Delhi Furniture FAQ — Heat, Dust & Dry Air

How Delhi's extreme heat, dry air and seasonal dust affect luxury furniture — and how SOISU's Standard Bespoke range is engineered for it.

Does Italian leather hold up in Delhi's 45°C summer heat?

Yes, when the leather is correctly selected and finished. Delhi summers reach 45°C in May and June, which dries out untreated or surface-coated leather very quickly. SOISU uses water-dyed full-grain Italian leather, which retains its natural oils more effectively than solvent-dyed leather under sustained heat. The key care steps in Delhi are: keep the sofa away from direct afternoon sunlight (south and west-facing windows are the worst), maintain indoor temperatures below 28°C during the hottest months where possible, and apply SOISU leather conditioner at the start and end of summer — this takes about 20 minutes and prevents the leather from drying and cracking. With this routine, a SOISU leather sofa lasts 15–25 years even in Delhi's extreme summers.

How does Delhi's dry winter air affect furniture materials?

Delhi winters drop humidity to 30–40% in December and January — the opposite extreme from Mumbai. Low humidity causes wood to contract and can make leather feel stiff and brittle. SOISU's kiln-dried hardwood frames are dried to 8–10% moisture content before assembly, which means they are already at a moisture level close to Delhi's dry-winter equilibrium — so the frame doesn't contract significantly. For the leather, a once-a-year conditioning treatment before winter starts (typically in October) keeps the surface supple through the dry months. Fabric upholstered pieces are less sensitive to low humidity and are an excellent choice for Delhi homes.

How does Delhi's dust and pollution affect a luxury sofa?

Delhi's high particulate air quality means furniture accumulates fine dust faster than in most Indian cities. For leather sofas, a microfibre wipe-down once a week prevents dust from settling into the grain and dulling the surface. For fabric pieces, a vacuum with a soft brush attachment every two weeks keeps the weave clean. SOISU fabric upholstery uses performance weaves with a tight thread count specifically chosen to resist dust penetration — loose weaves accumulate dust at a much higher rate. The annual care visit (free for the first three years in Delhi NCR) addresses deep cleaning and surface restoration.

Does SOISU deliver to Delhi NCR — Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad?

Yes. SOISU delivers and professionally installs furniture across Delhi NCR — including Central Delhi, South Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. Delivery to Delhi NCR takes 3–7 days from Mumbai dispatch after the standard 21-day build window. Installation is white-glove: our team places the furniture exactly where you want it, removes packaging, and does an initial care walkthrough. For large orders or specific delivery windows in Delhi, contact our Prabhadevi showroom to confirm the schedule.

Which SOISU furniture is best suited for a Delhi home?

For Delhi's climate profile — hot dry summers, cold dry winters, high dust — performance fabric upholstery is the most practical choice: it resists heat, doesn't dry out in winter, and cleans easily. If you prefer leather, full-grain Italian leather with the annual conditioning routine is fully suitable. For living rooms with direct afternoon sun, we recommend placing the sofa at least 1.5 metres from south or west-facing windows. SOISU's bouclé armchairs and fabric sectionals are particularly popular with Delhi clients who want Italian aesthetics with easy maintenance. The Roma Modular and Venezia sectional are our most popular pieces in Delhi NCR.
